It was always our tradition to try and bring that first nativity to life in our own front room. It was fun to improvise and bring a portion of that Holy night to life. If you’re seeing this and have also had a tradition, please share it whether it’s a photo or text—it would be fun to hear about your point of view.

Loverboy’s favorite time of the year is Christmas. This year he wants to give the gift of helping others. But when he tries, no one seems to want his help. . .until he meets a very special Christmas baby.

One of my favorite quotes is a simple line from C.S. Lewis`s "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (part of the Chronicles of Narnia series)... it says: "𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕." Very simple and Very powerful. "Chubbs: Blind Cat Learns to Trust "with its Coloring/Activity Book, and "Teddy: A Boy who Swam with Angels" are good sources for young readers to learn about faith, trust, hope, miracles and courage...

Presents are fun and exciting! But adding a gift that could bless a child and help them learn to appreciate how God shows up for them, the miracles all around us, having faith and trust and courage...well, those are gifts of a lifetime!

Consider how these stories could bless you and your kids. They`d also make great stocking stuffers! 🎄

At this year`s boutique, I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely girls. They were having a lot of fun exploring all the shopping possibilities, and I was thrilled they spent time with me--listening to the back stories of both Chubbs and Teddy. Even with all the competing interests at this event, they responded positively to these inspirational and faith based true stories--imagining the miracles it took for Teddy to return safely to his family, speaking to their hearts, which warmed mine.

Learning to recognize miracles helps anyone learn to appreciate how God shows up in our often ordinary lives...

𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐬: 𝐀 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 has been a favorite of young readers over the past three years. Your help and support has made it possible for readers around the world to enjoy and learn from Chubbs`s experiences.

Chubbs`s story is a faith-based, inspirational tale about a blind cat who learns to trust her rescuer. The relationship between Chubbs and Grandma Sandy is a comparison to the relationship we can have with God.

Literally blind, Chubbs must learn how to navigate her dark world by trusting Grandma Sandy. Although we can`t see God, we can learn to trust that He will help us navigate the ups and downs of our lives.

You can purchase Chubbs`s story here: https://amzn.to/32T0aAJ

Summer`s over and hopefully you`ve spent some quality time doing something fun, restorative or maybe you went on an honest to goodness adventure!

Ryan went with Teddy on an adventure of a life-time. Here`s what he has to say about his experience.

Here`s an interview with Ryan--age 9...

Q: Hey Ryan, what did you like about Teddy’s story?
A: It`s the best book I`ve ever read. And the illustrations were so great!

Q: What did you learn from Teddy’s experience?
A: Not to go off on my own without telling someone where I’m going.

Q: What was the scariest thing that happened on Teddy’s unexpected adventure?
A: He floated for a long time by himself and there was a giant fish, and fast water, and he almost gave up.

Q: How did Heavenly Father look out for Teddy?
A: He sent whispers and people to help him get back to his family. And He was always there—keeping him calm, so he could keep trying.

Q: If your best friend hasn’t read Teddy’s story yet—what would you tell him?
A: It’s a story about a 9 year old boy who went on a picnic with his family and accidentally fell into the river. Seeing how Teddy stayed calm during all the scariest parts made me want to be calm. It helped me to know Heavenly Father watches out for me and everyone.

Q: What else would you like to say about Teddy: A Boy who Swam with Angels?
A: Put it in every single library— so everybody can read it!

Thanks Ryan for sharing what you learned from Teddy`s experience.

This is an inspirational, true, faith based adventure story that anyone of any age can enjoy. It is a story of miracles showing readers how God showed up for a young boy who was literally in over his head.

Teddy`s survival of his many challenges and difficulties that day can inspire others to become aware of how God shows up for them.

School`s out. . . Do you have a vacation planned? Or maybe you`re heading off to a well loved destination? Or maybe a "stay-cation"? Don`t forget that a story can transport the reader to places they`ve never been, doing things they`ve never done.

Here are some recommendations for your kids that I couldn`t put down:

📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐚 -- Alda P. Dobbs (ages 8-12) -- Based on a true story, the tale of one girl`s perilous journey to cross the U.S. border and lead her family to safety during the Mexican Revolution.

📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 -- Karen Inglis (ages 7-11) -- A lost dog, a hidden time tunnel and a secret lake. A page-turning time travel adventure!

📖 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 -- Barbara O`Connor (ages 8-12) -- A big-hearted story about the meaning of friendship, the challenges of growing up, and one lovable runaway dog.

📖 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐠 -- Barbara O`Connor (ages 8-12) -- Half of me was thinking, Georgina, don`t do this. Stealing a dog is just plain wrong.

📖 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧-𝐃𝐢𝐱𝐢𝐞 -- Kate DiCamillo (ages 8-12) -- 10 year-old India Opal Buloni goes down to the local supermarket for some groceries and comes home with a dog.

📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 -- Eleanor Estes (ages 7-11) -- This Newbery Honor classic is a beautifully written tribute to the power of kindness, acceptance, and standing up for what`s right.

📖 𝐓𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐲: 𝐀 𝐁𝐨𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐬 -- Sandra Sorenson-Kindt (ages 7-11) -- When a curious nine-year old finds himself swallowed up in a rushing river, will the whispers he hears in his heart and mind help him survive?

Each of these books tells a timeless story of being brave, finding courage, having faith, enduring hardship and in most cases choosing to do the right thing. I loved each story--and I read some of them many times. Your middle grader will enjoy the journey!
